Camping has been a way of life for us for a long time. As kids our families were avid camping families and summer was the fruit of life, when we enjoyed many fond memories of 'roughing' it.
My wife's family spent their summers playing near Silver Lake, Ontario. Her father owned a bus conversion camper that bunked her and her eight siblings! They shared many fond times with their cousins and reminice about it to this day.
As a boy I was involved with the modern scouting movement with the Boy Scouts of America. My family too were avid campers and fishers. I draw on my experiences as a scout when in the outdoors and everyday life.
Our two kids have camped since they were both babies. Both absolutely love the outdoors. Our oldest is a beachcomber and loves to swim, even in the coolest of waters. Our youngest is still discovering the outdoors. Each new campsite, playground, and outing is a new adventure of learning and playing.
Our days of tenting are retired, at least for now. Still, we have not dimissed those simple attitudes that keep us returning to the psuedo wilds we love so much.
