Neath Bird Club was set up for the Neath Valley and surrounding areas bird enthusiasts, to share their knowledge and to exhibit their species of bird in local shows.
Over the last decade the number of people keeping birds has dropped, due to the older generation finding it too much work to care for their birds thus having to give them up, maybe deemed to be an old man's hobby? or just not enough young enthusiasts taking up the hobby to replace their grandparents/parents who used to keep birds??? the list can go on and on.
As bird enthusiasts we should all help each other in passing on knowledge we have picked up on from the older members, books, internet and even maybe tips you have discovered and would like to pass it on to the younger bird keeper generation to help them understand their birds and maybe to just point them in the right direction if needed.
The club arranges auctions around about September to December for bird keepers to sell some of their surplus livestock, bird equipment, books or maybe just something out of the ordinary. At the auction you have a chance to catch up with other members of the club and the chance to meet new members.
