Sindys first eight outfits
With Sindys release came eight outfits and eight 'seperates' . So Sindys new owner had a world of choice in which to dress Sindy for any occiasion, whether it be to go shopping in, dancing, horse riding, and of course, bed time. Here are Sindys first eight outfits..
1963 Pedigree Dolls and Toys Limited. Sindy is a registered trademark of Pedigree Dolls And Toys Limited.
Skating Girl
Skating Girl

This has to be Sindys cutest first outfit. What child wouldn't have loved a real life version of this to go skating in. Bright pillar box red was chosen to make Sindy's warm cotton jersey tights and circular felt skating skirt. Sindy kept toasty warm in her cotton jersey sweater and matching bobble hat and scarf, all in white with a red and black zig-zag pattern, the scarf ends, and bobble hat finished with white pom-poms. Sindy kept her hands warm by wearing her white felt mittens, wih red stitch detail, and she had her very own ice skates. Can you imagine the fun a child must have had unwrapping this outfit on Christmas morning and dressing Sindy in it, the going out into the garden to find a frozen over puddle for Sindy to skate on ! What fun !
Lunch Date
Lunch Date

Although the age of the teenager was well and truly here, and teenagers had their own way of dressing, no longer being 'smaller' versions of their parents, there was still a   pride in dressing up, even to go out to lunch, or shopping. Sindy didn't disappoint, she had this beautiful outfit for ' a date with   special boy friend'..as the style book put it. And Tuffin and Foale were behind the design of this great outfit. Sindy wore a dress designed to look like a sweater and skirt. The top was black brush cotton with a turtle neck and long sleeves, the dropped waist 'skirt' was in black, green and navy tartan check wool. a shiny black PVC belt 'seperated' the two. A matching headscarf in the tartan wool protected Sindy's hairdo from the elements, and she wore black kitten heeled shoes and carried a black shiny PVC handbag on a long 'gold' chain. Inside, was Sindys little black diary. A great outfit with lots of real play value.
Sleepy-Time
Sleepy-Time

When bed time beckoned, Sindy followed you up 'the wooden hill to bedfordshire' wearing her pretty baby doll nightie and matching panties in suger pink and white gingham check. All timmed with delicate white lace. The baby doll nightie was 'The' nightie to be wearing back then if you were a fashionable young girl about own. Sindy wore white 'daisy' one strap sandals and carried a baby blue PVC toilet bag with white silk tie drawstring at the top. Inside she had everythig she needed to prepare for bed, tooth paste, tootbrush, soap, face cloth, three hair curlers in blue plastic, a brush, comb and hand mirror in sugar pink, and a Penguin paper back book, with   picture he Sindy on the front ! Another high play value outfit that must have given hours of pleasure to any child.
Shopping In The Rain
Shopping-in-the Rain

Another one of Tuffin and Foales creations for Sindy was this up to the minute, ultra fashionable trench coat style raincoat and matching head scarf in the 'material' of the moment, PVC. This was cotton backed and glossy, tied tightly round the waist with a simple tie belt. It had a nice collar and lapel detail and two patch pockets below the belt. Sindy's red accessories really added a splash of colour and consisted of knee length boots, an umbrella and 'port hole' handle PVC bag with front pocket. She had already been to the shops, and carried a newspaer and bag of oranges. Another great creation from Sindys very own fashion designers.
Dream Date
Dream Date

When it came to parties, Sindy shone in her silk sugar pink party dress with it's flared hem, finished in white lace, ideal for twisting the night away to the Beatles 'twist and Shout' 45. Tuffin and Foale did it again, yes they were responsable for this cute little creation. Sindy wore a drop 'belt' made in the same fabric as her dress, and yet another piece was worn in her hair as a bow. She wore black sandals with gold bars across the foot, and carried a gold half moon clutch bag. A rare accessorey to find these days is her 'gold' braclet, so pretty and delicate, and what party would be complete without a record player and disk ! A fantastic and fun outfit.
Undie-World
Undie-World

No smart young ladies wardrobe would have been complete without a gorgeous set of underwear. Sindy wore delicate navy blue nylon trimmed withd delicate white lace, a matching strapless bra, panties and petticoat, trimmed near the hem with a pink rose. Absolutley beautiful.
Another 'must have' at the time was Sindys girdle, in black elastic, trimmed again with a pink rose. When it came to bed time Sindy put on her hair 'net' to keep her hair do in place until the morning, made in pretty white lace. With this lovely outfit came a brush, comb and hand mirror in blue. This is the only one of Sindys first eight outfits not to be issued with any footwear.
Country Walk
Country Walk

Straight out of the 'home counties' came this outfit, Country Walk, a very typical outfit of the time, smart casual we would call it today. Sindy is all set to walk her poodle dog, 'Ringo', named after Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. She wears a suedette jacket in rich brown with a lining of either lemon cotton ( made in Hong Kong version) or beige silk ( Made in England version)...with patch pockets and collar and lapel detail. Under this she wears a bottle green cotton jersey sweater with turtle neck and long sleeves.   Her skirt is checked wool with an inverted pleat at the front, the dark version of the skirt is made in England ( Above), the lighter one is made in Hong Kong ( Below). Sindy wears sensible flat walking shoes in brown, and Ringo has his own bowl and bone ! What a fun outfit to take Sindy out in when walking the family dog.
The cute 'pipe cleaner' Ringo, complete with chain lead and red collar, bone and water bowl.
Pony Club

Wha child didn't dream of having their very own pony. So what better outfit for Sindy to have as part of her wardrobe than this horse riding outfit. In fantastic detail. Sindy wore a smart red and white (sometimes with black in it) checked shirt with collar detail and three white poppers to fasten the front. over this she wore her smartly toilored riding jacket in brown cotton, darted at the front, and vented at the back, with black felt collar and flap pocket details, and real tiny black buttons that went though real tiny button holes. Such beautiful detail. Her jodphurs were wide legged in beige cotton dill, turned up at the bottoms, she wore brown flat shoes, blue spurs ,and carried a riding crop and two blue grooming brushes, as usual Pedigree had given just the right amount ofdetail and accessoris to realy let a childs imagination take over for fantastic play value.
Tally Ho ! Gee Up Neddy, lets make haste to the home page !....
