Sindys seperates were a range of 'outfits' designed for pocket money budgets. They were sold on cards covered in clear plastic, each seperate had it's own Sindy coat hanger. The range was made for all weathers, so Sindy could stay fashionable, yet comfortable all year round, and a lot of the seperates could be mix and matched, a very fashionable concept at the time.
Imagine the shear delight of a child that has saved up enough pocket money to go to the toy shop and buy their very first Sindy seperate for their beloved Sindy doll. Maybe you remember the very first seperate you bought !?

Leather Looker
This was a groovy flared hipster skirt in leather look cotton backed PVC. Designed by Tuffin and Foale yet again. The colour was a bright tomatoe orange/red, and the skirt had braces to hold it up, a realy FAB skirt for Sindy to practice her dance moves in her bedroom listening to her record player.
Out-and-about
A casual shirt and jerkin (known to some of us as 'vest' or 'Tank Top' )..The shirt was in a nice weight cotton with red and white check, several variations of the check have been seen. It had a lovely collar detail and fastened with two white poppers. The jerkin was in pillar box red felt and fastened at the back with three red poppers. The perfect set for Sindy to wear when just relaxing at weekends or popping down the shops to buy her favourite fashion magazine.
Cape
Designed by Tuffin and Foale, a crisply tailored cape in a lovely black and white houndstooth check cotton, finished down the front with black binding, three black poppers and concealed slits for Sindy to put her hands through. A very smart outfit that was extremley fashionable at the time and usually worn with a deer stalker hat ! Ideal for a spot of window shopping.
Duffle Coat
Another highly fashionable piece of clothing at the time, was the duffle coat. Unisex fashions were the order of the day, both in clothes, and hairstyles, and what could be more unisex than this. A perfect replica of a duffle coat, in miniature ! Donkey brown felt was used. Sindy had a hood to keep her all snug, two large patch pockets, and cute, real, tiny toggles to fasten her coat, there were even toggles on the 'cuffs'...a FAB outfit for those frosty days when she wanted to pop out to meet freinds at the coffee bar.
Windy Day
I love this simple yet such fun seperate, What a perfect combination to wear when flying her kite on a 'Windy Day', up on the heath Sindy looks so cute in her Tamashanta beret, matching scarf and muff, all in a gorgeous shade of royal blue brush nylon, the tamashaner topped with a bright red pom-pom
Nylons
Sindy finishes off her skirt and dress outfits with smooth, 'silky' nylon stockings in either black or tan, seamed at the back to add a smart, crisp look, tights were only around the corner, but until then, stockings were part of every girls wardrobe. The pack contained one pair of each colour.
Sloppy Joe
A big fashion statement of the 60's were 'Beatnicks'..they shunned smart, formal fashion and wore loose baggy sweaters, called 'Sloppy Joe's ', lots and lots of black, leggings, tight 'skinny' pants, berets and a general 'sloppy' look. As Sindy was up there with the best of them when it came to fashion, she follwed suit with her 'sloppy Joe' sweater, in bright red cotton jersey with ribbed 'V' neck, hem and cuffs, the perfect outfit for a disk playing evening with her friends. Matching knee length socks complimented the sweater and gave it an even more casual and relaxed feel.
Summery Days
The shift dress was yet another fashion 'must have' back in the early 60s. Sindys was in cool, crisp cotton, a lovely bright check of orange and green was used, topped with a 'mandarin' type collar, a green ribon bow worn 'tie' like at the front. Summery days were never more comfortable in this easy to wear fashion. Perfect for that special picnic.
