Seven New additions for 1965 !
1965 Pedigree Dolls and Toys Limited. Sindy is a registered trademark of Pedigree Dolls And Toys Limited.
1965 heralded a career for Sindy as a nurse. She also me Paul, her new boyfriend ! She took full advantage of the new package holidays and flew off to Switzerland for a skiing holiday ! When at home, she popped on her trendy new coffee morning dress and drove to the coffee bar in her brand new red sports car, and she kept all her wonderful clothes in her new wardrobe
Emergency Ward
Emergency Ward

Sindy was a student nurse in this very detailed uniform consisting of a blue and white striped, short sleeve dress, done up at the front by white poppers. Over this Sindy wears a white strarched apron, pinned to her bodice with a tiny brass saftey pin and cinched at the waist with a regulation navy PVC belt. A smart PVC white collar covers the top of the dress. She also wears arm puffs, a mask and hat all in crisp white cotton, black stockings, and comfortable white sneakers. Sindy carries a temperature chart, bandage and medicine bottle. I'm sure Sindy helped to look after and nurse many a sick dolly and teddy in this outfit, great play value once again from Pedigree.
Winter Holiday
Package holidays really started to take off in the 60's especially with the introduction of the jet aircraft, although they were still really for the more affluant of society.
Sindy took full advantage of these holiday and jetted off to Switzerland for a winter ski holiday, and she took with her her new outfit, 'Winter Holiday'. Another finely detailed example from Pedigree. Sindy wore a white ribbed cotton jersey polo necked sweater, topped with a gorgeous royal blue quilted anorack with white popper front fastening and real fur trim, the made in Hong Kong version is Coney (rabbit) fur, and the Made In England version is sheeps wool. Bright red stretch nylon ski pants with stirrup elastic under the feet kept Sindy warm and toasty, tucked into black ski boots which clipped onto perfectly detailed 'snowbird' skis, complete with metal fastenings and springs. She also had two ski poles, wore warm white felt mittens, with white stitch detail (these are the wrong ones in the picture) and wore her fabulous cats eye sunglasses.
Sindy's Hair Switch
Simdy wears a pony tail when she goes riding, or spends a casual evening at home.
Sindy's Hair Switch

We're all familiar with the hair extensions and accessories available today, and they are nothing new, back in the early 60s they were a high fashion accessory. With the likes of Twiggy, Britians top 'super' model wearing them for fashion shoots.
For very dress occiasions going to the ball and when she is bridesmaid Sindy arranges her switch into a stunning topknot.
Sometimes Sindy chooses to wear a grown-up type chignon. it's always dressy and looks smart.
Figure Of Eight. As a variation to the chignon, Sindy sometimes wears this hair style, which goes with her more tailored outfits.
Swiss Heart. Sindy learned this style when she was on a ski-ing holiday.
Sindy likes to wear her hair switch in bunches when she wears week-enders or coffee date.
Photo of Twiggy from the 1960s wearing a hair switch in a model shoot, comfirming the popularity of this highly fashionable hair accessory.
A fashionable plait is a neat way to style Sindy's hair.
Sindy's Hair switch was a red binding alice band with elastic at the back, behind the neck. Hair the same colour as Sindy's was sewn onto the alice band. The switch came with two tiny kirby grips, a silk ribbon (same material as 'Dream Date' dress and ribbons) and a styling leaflet explaning how to arrange each style, and also how to wash and care for Sindy's switch. It had imense play value and I'm sure a lot of budding Vidal Sassoons just loved the hours of styling it provided.
Coffee Party
Coffee Party

Sindy's Coffee Party dress was made in knitted cotton and came in 'Mocha' or Blue. It was a very trendy straight cut dress, turtle necked, zipped up the back by a tiny real zip and skimmed the knees, it was finished off with a cord tie belt worn drop waisted. The cord belts in these pictures are reproductions as the real belts are hard to find, but they are a good match to the originals. Sindy loved to wear this a dress when she met friends for a coffee and a gossip.
Frosty Nights
Frosty Nights

On cold winter nights Sindy was snug and toasty in her new pyjamas. Made in rich red, warm brush cotton   with white lace detail on the neck, elasticted cuffs and yoke. The pants were three quarter length, very trendy and yet so pretty and practical. A lovely new addition to Sindys bed time wardrobe.
Sindy's Car
Sindy's Car

This was one of Sindys very first 'Scenesetters'. These were miniature versions of 'real life' items that added extra play value to Sindy, you could 'live' out real life situations with Sindy's senesetters. The were very popular.

Sindy's Car was a bright red sports car, probably modeled on the MG Midget. It had bright chrome effect details and a cream interior. The tyle book proclaimed that Sindy was 'the envy of all her friends because she's got every grown up girls dream: a red two-seater sportscar ! '...Oh the hours and hours of fun this must have provided ! Sindy's new boyfriend Paul is seen sitting on the edge of the car, he is wearing the outfit he was released in, 'Casuals'.
Sindy's Wardrobe
Sindy's Wardrobe

At last, somewhere other than a shoe box to keep all Sindy's lovely outfits in ! One of the most popular, if not 'The' most popular Sindy scenesetter of all time, which continued to top the 'charts' in sales thoughout the whole Pedigree period, in it's many guises. The first edition wardrobe was this deep pink wardrobe wtih white wood grain effect doors with a Sindy 'S' in pink near the top of each door. It was fabulously detailed with a full length mirror of shiny card stuck to one door, below this was a shoe rack to hold four pairs of shoes. On the other door interior was a rail to hold belts and ribbons, and below this was a little shelf for bracelets and sunglasses etc..
Inside the wardrobe was a hat shelf with clothes rail below it, and at the base was a set of two shallow drawers and a deep drawer for all Sindy' smalls. You can see why ths was so popular, another great item from Pedgree.
