The 1966 style book introduced Patch.....

'Meet Sindy's naughty little sister Patch'

That rascal Patch ! She's always playing tricks on Sindy-and she's caught Paul out once or twice, too. Patch has he sweetest collection of outfits, perfect in every detail and made in the prettiest fabrics that little girls love to wear. Patch is always getting into mischief, but she's a good girl at heart. She'll keep yo amused for a long, long time.
This little sweetie is a 'rare' first edition 'Made In England' coffee haired Patch, she's so cute. She's wearing her Made In England pale denim dungarees in which she was issued.
Over the six years Patch was sold, she was issued in four models. The first being that Made in England Patch, seen here on the far left, she had thick, slightly courser hair than later Patch's, she was marked Made In England, and was sold wearing her dungarees, head scarf and white bow front shoes. Patch's Made In England dungarees are a light blue denim with flat white poppers at the back.
The next Patch was Made In Hong Kong, she had extremley soft and silky hair, she is pictured in the centre of the three Patch's. This Patch also wore dungarees and a headscarf, this time though, the dungarees were a darker denim. Hong Kong also produced a 'miniature' Patch which was   shorter in height, about 8, rather than 9 inches, it's not so easy to dress this one in Patch's fashions, clothes have to be chosen carefully.
The last Patch's were made in Canterbury after Pedigree packed up production at Merton and moved there. Fondly known by collectors as 'Canterbury Patch's' these are marked Made In England on the back of the neck, and have the numbers 047001 marked on her back. This Patch had very soft, silky hair either in a long soft bob style hair cut, or more curly, two Canterbury Patch's can be seen here, on the far right of the group of three Patch's is a blonde, and in the seperate picture is a titian one..Debenhams also sold these particular Patch's at the end of her 'life', sold in Patch boxes and only wearing white panties.
Althoug poor little Patch was depicted as being rather naughty and full of mischief, the story books told quite a different story, in fact she was very helpful, She was a member of the merton pack of Brownies, she swam, played hockey and took ballet classes. She even had her very own Pony.
In one story Patch saves an old man from the path of an oncoming train, and does the same again by helping a little girl from the same fate. She also helps Paul out of a pothole as she is the smallest to fit down there.
Patch does make us laugh though, she moores her row boat to the shore, only to find that when she returns, the tide had gone out and it's left dangling by it's rope down the side of the river bank ! In the same story he throws potatoe peelings off the boat they are on, against the wind, only to get covered in them, poor Patch ! Ha Ha......
Patch's first outfits of 1966
Birthday Party

A beautifully made outfit for special birthday parties. Patch looks so cute and smart in her black velvet dress with coffee coloured cotton lace trimmings. Over this she wears a rich red velvet cape lined in red satin with black satin ribbon bow fastening at the neck of the hood top. She also wears long white nylon socks (these are home made reproductions in cotton jersey) and black flat toed shoe's with gold buckles (these are missing on mine). A brilliant start to Patch's fine outfits, and what fun to take her along to your friends birthday party with you.
Swan Lake

Such a delicate little ballet outfit for our little cygnet Patch. Pure white satin with froths of white net tulle, Patch wore matching satin panties, fine white nylon tights and tiny little ballet slippers with silk cord ties. On her head she wore a garland of beautiful flowers ( this garland actually belongs to Tammy, but it is similar to Patch's). You can just imagine Patch full of excitment in the back of the car being driven to her Saturday morning ballet class.
Sou'Wester

Patch was 'high and dry' in her cute Sou'Wester outfit. A bright sunny yellow slicker coat in textured cotton backed PVC with black shiny popper fastening, collar detail and two big Patch pockets '..to carry lots of sweets' said the style book ! Patch wore a matching sou'wester hat and black wellingtons, this outfit would have been so much fun to play with out on a rainy day, Patch all warm and dry as she splashed through the puddles in her wellies.
Bedtime

Time for bed Patch...and doesn't Patch look absolutley adorable in her royal blue brush cotton flannel floor length night dress, trimmed with white cotton lace. Over this Patch wears her white quilted nylon (Made In England version is cotton) dressing gown with ribbon fastening. Patch carries her baby blue toilet bag containing her toothbrush, toothpaste, mug and bedtime penguin paperback story book with a picture of herself in her swan lake outfit on the front cover. On her feet Patch wears cut red slippers with white pom-poms (these are reproductions pom-poms, the original are foam balls).   Now little children had both Sindy, Paul and Patch to tuck under the covers at bedtime, what fun.
Schooldays

Patch is ready for school in her regulation school uniform, an excellent depiction of a school uniform in the 1960s. Patch wears a brown wool pinafore dress over an attatched white shirt with red and white striped tie under a cute rounded collar. Over this she wears her school coat in the same brown wool, complete with two patch pockets and a breast pocket with her school badge sewn on, the coat also has an attatched 'belt'. Patch's beret is in the same brown wool and she wears long white nylon socks (these are cotton jersey reproductions) and brown one bar shoes. Patch carries her brown plastic satchel with her name printed on the front in gold, it has a long strap and two buckled down flaps. Inside her satchel she has a red excercise book. The satchel also came with a pen, pencil, rule and a pair of round silver framed glasses. A great play value outfit for hours of fun.
Home For The Day

This was the first of Patch's seperates shown in the style book. A neat litte pinafore style mini dress in black and white houndstooth checked cotton with black popper back fastening. Patch wore this dress when she stayed at home, she looks so cute in it, and it matched up well with her next outfit, 'Easy Life', as well as this blouse from a later year.
Easy Life

This was Patch's outfit for...' lounging about and making a nuisance of herself' !.. so said the style book...
Another cute outfit, made in black ribbed cotton jersey, a simple sweater with long sleeves and turtle neck worn with matching tights, great for accessorising other outfits with.
Vest and pants

Patch's own set of underwear in white stretch cotton 'airtex' type material. The style book anounced that the cotton mesh would...'keep her warm on chilly days, yet cool and comfortable in the summer'...the perfect set of undies for the perfect little girl.
All New for 1968 !!!!
Brownie

In 1968 Patch joined the Merton pack Brownies, wearing the uniform of the time. A cotton dress in brown with collar detail, patch breast pockets and various Brownie badges printed on the sleeves. The accessories of this finely detailed outfit were a brown belt with 'gold' buckle, the Brownie tie complete with elf pin in 'gold', a whistle on   a string, which.... 'Patch loves to blow'....and a brown felt beret in the same colour as the dress. On her feet Patch wears white nylon socks (these are home made cotton jersey reproductions) and brown one strap shoes. Another high play value outfit for hours and hours of fun.
Red Riding Hood

Patch's dress up outfit, for playing make believe games with her friends Patch wears her Little Red Riding hood set. A really pretty cotton dress in white, sprinkled with cute litte red polka dots is topped with a broderie anglais starched white apron and red cotton, unlined hooded cape with red satin ribbon fastening at the neck. Patch carries a basket of fruit for 'granny', and a Peguin paperback book of nursery rhymes with a picture of Patch in her swan lake outfit on the front. Her shoes are cute little red ones with bow detail on the front. I can just imagine poor old Sindy and Paul roped into paying Red Riding hood with patch ! Sindy as 'granny' and Paul as the big bad wolf ! Ha Ha....
Water Wings

Patch's turn to have a navy blue nylon swimsuit this year, accessorised with a vivid green terry towel with colourful fringing, real inflatable waterwings in green and yellow vinyl, brown one strap sandals and a red elastic hairband. I bet children couldn't wait to take Patch up to the bathroom and play 'swimming' with her in the bath..great fun.
Half Term

In the school holidays, when Patch wasn't climbing trees, Mum took her out to town in her smart half term outfit. This consisted of a red ribbed cotton jersey sweater with polo neck and long sleeves, a smart grey cotton pleated skirt in a light tartan check, worn over these was a grey wool felt blazer with patch pockets and red stitch detail. Patch wore short nylon socks (these are home made cotton jersey reproductions) and flat toed black shoes. Mummy had obviously decided to treat Patch as she had been a very good little girl at school, so Patch was given a cute white kitten and a ball for it to play with.
Tobogganing

At the first sign of snow Patch rushed out to the garden shed and fished out her fabulous sledge from the pile of paint cans and old newspapers. To keep toasty warm while sledging in the nearby park Patch wore thick red cotton jersey tights tucked into blue wellies, and topped with a cotton anorack style jacket in navy blue with a red stripe detail and red lined hood. Patch also wore a warm pair of white felt mittens with red stitch detail to tie in with the rest of her outfit, smart but practical. More hours of fun for children with this great little set.
Hockey
Patch scores again when she plays hockey at school, she just loves PE, it's her favourite lesson. Here she is, wearing her brown cotton knit sweater with yellow ribbed detail on the 'V' neck, around her waist Patch wore a yellow 'girdle' !?...and under her sweater she wears an 'airtex' style white Tee-shirt in woven cotton. Her shorts are neatly pleated brown cotton and she wears yellow nylon socks and brown one strap shoes, Patch has her very own hockey stick and ball, watch out girls, she's taking no prisoners !
Summer Suit

When Patch goes to her grandma's to take Sunday afternoon tea she is the smartest and most grown up little girl in the whole town. She wears her beautifully tailored pink linen suit with royal blue binding detail and collar, shoes match. It's her very favourite 'best' outfit.
Winter Dress

When the temperature drops, Patch slips on her gorgeous winter dress, cleverly designed to look like a pinafore dress over a top. The top is black and white houndstooth check cotton with a warm turtle neck, the dress is soft, warm brush cotton flannel in a rich warm red, perfect for those long winter afternoons spent by the fire readng her favourite book, The Sindy Annual of course !
Summer Dress

Patch also has a brand new dress for the summer as well. Lovely bright cornfower blue and white cotton gingham is made into a cute little smock dress with red stitch detail and a patch pocket for Patch's sweets ! The neck is finished with a ruff of pretty nylon white lace.   Off Patch goes, to catch some butterflies no doubt !
Red Tights

Patch's red tights are made of red cotton jersey and fit her snugly, ideal to wear under her winter outfits to add a splash of colour and keep her toasty warm at the same time.
Flannel Dress

Patch's favourite colour is definatley red ! This time she wears it in the form of a simple red felt 'flannel' dress, sleevless with a patch pocket and white stitch detail. This great little seperate can be worn as it is in the summer, or with a top and tights underneath in the winter, it is seen here with Patch's red tights and a blouse from 1969.
Casual Shift

When the sun shines dow relentlessly and the heat of those 1960s summers is just to   much to bare, Patch slips on her beautiful navy blue cotton shift dress with pretty flower detail on the front, her headscarf protects her head and match's the detail on her dress, absolutley stunning.
Patch's Pony ''Pixie''

Patch now has her very own Pony, and she's named her Pixie, now she can join Sindy for canters in the countryside, what fun ! Pixie is a cute little pony with soft shiny mane and tail. Pixie has a brown saddle and bridle, and shiny silver stirrups, Patch and her friends spend hours plying with Pixie. The tack in this photo isn't the original tack but it is very close to it.
New for 1969....
Blouse

Patch has a brand new smart blouse for Sunday best, in cool, crisp white cotton with delicate white nylon lace down the front and around the neck and cuffs. The prfect accessory to wear under her dresses or with a skirt. Patch has to be really careful when she wears this, no tree climbing and mud pie fights thank you very much young lady !
Casual Skirt

Patch absolutley adores her groovy casual mini style skirt, she feels so grown up and fashionable in it, Sindy often catches her in her room, dancing away to Sindy's latest records. It's made of crisp cotton in a gorgeous shade of turquiose blue with a neat print of diamonds in squares printed in rust and mustard. It has a kick pleat at the front so Patch can really move when she's practising those dance moves !
