1970-1979 Pedigree Dolls and Toys Limited. Sindy is a registered trademark of Pedigree Dolls And Toys Limited.
As far as womens fashion went, the 1970s had it all, mini's midi's and maxi's, take your pic, you'd always be trendy.
Flower power was another high point, the hippy movement led to their look being copied, if not pared down, by the designers and stores, bold print flowery peasant style dresses, gypsy style layered skirts, victorian inspired fashions with frills and bows, lots of white lace, the originals being worn by the hippies, bought from charity shops. Cheesecloth shirts and blouses, Crotched shawls and poncho's. Bright colours, purples, orange, red, all carried over from the physcadelic 60s..later in the decade satin was THE must have fabric for disco wear! The 70s was about fun with fashion, a decade not to be taken too seriously, a decade of Glam Rock and later..disco with strong latin beats being the order of the day and 'ballroom' dancing taking on a whole new twist when mixed with white suits and peasant dresses !
Trendy Girl Sindy was issued this year in this very fashionable dress called 'Day Girl' this is a reproduction by Helen Carter of Sindy repro boutique.

The most articulated Sindy , if not doll, EVER ! This is the year that Pedigree bought out 'Active Ballerina Sindy', their most popular Sindy ever. Acitive Ballerina was on step ahead of beautiful Lovely Lively, she had the bending elbows and click, click knees, but now, not only was her head was on a ball joint but so was her neck, she also had rotating hands and a 'double cup' waist, not just on 'ball joint' waist but two, she could perform all the moves a real ballet dancer could, except, and why Pedigree didn't think it would matter, standing on tip toe ! Children just loved this fabulously articulate Sindy and her pretty ballet outfit, she was an instant hit. The Sindy in the photo's is the one issued the following year, with poseable ankles.
Meanwhile, Lovely Lively got yet another new dress ! This time entitled 'Ship Ahoy', a cute little pinafore and blouse set, very popular with collectors.
.......And Funtime ditched the wrap, and got delicate hands and long, slim legs !

1975 was another great year for Sindy releases. The Active Ballerina continued to be the nations favourite, but also introduced was a new 'Funtime Sindy' this time in a gorgeous blue swimsuit with the Sindy 'S' printed on it near the left leg, a really pretty basic Sindy with stiff non-bending legs..
'Pretty Pose Sindy' was the 'luxury' basic Sindy in the range. She had the basic body but the legs were wired to bend rather than the 'click click' type, and her elbows also bent in the same way. She really lived up to her name, one of the prettiest Sindy's ever produced, with silky soft hair, delicate hands and beautiful face colouring. Her outfit was FAB to ! A yellow top (this ones not the original but very close to it) and deep orange dungaress with a yellow felt apple on the bib, VERY 70s ! The dungarees in the picture are the actual ones from my sisters Pretty Pose from that period.
Left, my sisters original Pretty Pose Sindy, rescued from the loft and given a hair cut and boil treatment to get the hair back to good condtion after years of play and styling etc...she was much loved and now shares her 'life' with all my other Sindys.
Funtime Sindy with hard non bending legs and that beautiful blue Sindy 'S' swimsuit, just gorgeous !
Lovely Lively Sindy got yet another new release outfit this year, this time a gorgeous white fluffy top with bright yellow check detail around the neck, cuffs and hem, and a sweet 'pearl' button to do up at the neck, A flared, pleated skirt matched the check detail, and Sindy wore white bow front shoes, she also came with a brush, comb and mirror for hours of styling fun. This Lovely Livley came to me with short hair, obviously it has been cut, so I just boil permed it into a smart bob as it's in too nice a condition to remove and re-root. A lovely Sindy and a very popular one with collectors

Active ballerina Sindy and the gorgeous Pretty Pose in her yellow checked outfit were still being sold in 1976, but joining them now, was a new Funtime Sindy, this time she had short hair, the first time a Sindy had been given short hair since 1963. She was available in Golden blonde, Strawbery Blonde and Brunette, I'm not 100% sure if she was available in blonde, this one above, far left, was released in the wedding outfit of this year, but no one seems to know for sure if she was also availabe as the funtime. Her outfit was a pretty biege dress with brown flowers on it, very 70s colours, and lace trim to create a sort of capped sleeve look. Sindy wore cream court shoes. This Sindy, actually, the Strawberry blonde second right, and portrait above the group photo, was the first Sindy I won when I started collecting and she still holds a special place in my collection and heart today, she's just so pretty.
