1963-1985. Pedigree Dolls and Toys Limited. Sindy is a registered trademark of Pedigree Dolls And Toys Limited.
The 1965 Sindy style book announced that you could now join The Sindy Club ! Not only was Sindy your friend, fashion doll and playmate, you could now belong to her very own club. Here's how the style book announced the news......
So, you filled in the 'form', took your three shillings ( 15p) to the post office and bought a postal order, this one on the right is from 1969, it's the closest I could get ... and posted it all off.......and waited..........
And then you got a FAB envelope from Pedigree !!!!!!!!!!
Many, many thanks to Sharon for allowing me to use this on my site, I won this off of her on Ebay.
How exciting !! And it go even better when you opened it up and saw the contents !!....
Jenny May welcomed you to The Sindy Club in this letter..
..And this wondrful membership 'scroll' ! but the best was yet to come !!!!..........
Your very own 'gold' metal Sindy medallion on a long chain !!!............
This must have been the scene in many a living room across the country, along with the squeals of delight at becoming a member of The Sindy Club !........
1968s style book Sindy Club application form....
1966s Style book Sindy Club application form......
The 1969 style book showed a new Sindy Club pendant, this time it was on a pin, the detail was lovely. Here it is in the 1969 style book Sindy Club application form, and below is the comparison with the first edition pendant.
Here's the 1972 Sindy Club membership form, also, notice that 'June and schoolfriend' is now just called 'June'.
Your very own Sindy Club headscarf
As a Sindy club member, and June and Schoolfriend reader to, you could win a Sindy headscarf for yourself, featuring Sindy, Paul and Patch in a range of their fabulous fashions. All you had to do was check out the numbers on the brick wall featured on the Sindy Club page of the comic, if your club membership number was on one of the bricks, you won a scarf ! Failing that, you could buy one ! Not quite as exciting though eh !
The scarf was made in Italy |! Very posh ! And the material was a 'nylon / rayon, which looked and felt like a nice silk / satin. The colours were really bright and cheerful. Yet another exciting delivery from the postman once you had sent off your claim for your prize scarf. I've featured it with Sindy so you can get an idea of the size of the scarf. These were also available for sale at 6 shillings each, that's 30p in 'new' money !
Your very own Sindy Handkerchief
Sindy's handkerchief was offered as a competition prize to club members, they came in a pack of two and were made out of nice crisp cotton with pink edges and a printed Sindy in Weekenders in one corner, a lovely little prize. Again, these were also available to buy, and would set you back 2 shillings and nine pence, that's 14.5 p these days !
Now for some fun ! Copy the scroll on the left to your pictures file on your computer, then take it to 'Paint' and fill in your name ! Or print it out blank, and if you have a typewriter, fill it in with that ! Hey presto, your a 1960s Sindy Club Member ! Here's mine on the right ! Have fun, and........Welcome to the club !....
