Leigh: Cheers Owelly will pester, sorry reminder her next time I speak to her. Cheers
owelly: I have a sprint and an LSR hood here waiting to post!! I have mailed your Ma for an address but heard nothing! I'll need them both back when she's fifnished but she can borrow them.
Leigh: Just thought of something else you could try moving the windscreen back to get the hood to fit at the back, the price for the hoods is the same for all three models but we needed a pattern for the LSR and the Sprint or she can use an old hood as the pattern as there are always subtle difference between each car/hood.
Leigh: Ken, it sounds like it is a sprint hood, when I last saw kingsley he said the sprint was the same body shape as the 1100/1300 based car but think it was about 10 inches shorter, My mum is making the hoods and after some initial interest she has had little feedback but is about 75% through making a hood for my car as we have an old Don Trimmings 1100/1300 hood as a pattern, once she has finished it will get some pics on facebook.
ken: hi all, wonde rif i could get some advise, i bought a hood from ebay last year for a replacement for the one i have, as i was unsure what model magenta it was off, i tried it out for size, clipped it on the front screen, and most of the clips and studs will line up with what i allready have, trouble is its short by about 3 inch to clip on the back, would this have been for a LSR or sprint?i could do with it being made to fit, if i was to drop the roll bar a bit, this i think would give me more length, but as i'm 5.10" i could do with keeping what little head room i have, if i get chance i will take some pics and post on the facebook page, are the hoods that are for sale all a standard size? or are they made for the three models? cheers in advance ken
Declan: thanks for the bit of info guys. after the auction ended we rung the guy to ask for arrangements and so forth and he said that there was an engine in it and it was actually moving and working ok. he said we could still have what the auction said for the agreed price but he said if we wanted pretty much all he had (including bits laying around) then that would be 500. we have taken this offer as we originally were looking for a mini for me and could not find one (project or running) for 500 or under so we leaped at this oppertunity. please tell me this was not a bad thing to do! the car also came with 4 brand new mini lights and tyres never having been used apart from to test that it still ran and moved. hope to hear back. Declan

Leigh: Declan, IVA manual located on this link http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/repository/M1%20Inspection%20Manual%20May%2009.pdf Like Owelly said it with not be easy as these cars were not designed with this type of legisation in mind but as you'll be building it from scratch you stand a better chance then if you'd bought a half built kit as most people do.
owelly: Declan, as you have bought a chassis and shell, you'll have a lot of work on getting the car through the IVA. Ask all the questions you want and we'll try to help but it's not going to be easy!! All the best, Owelly.
Declan: Hello all, just wanted to say that i was the one to buy the ebay item 320440748636. i am 15 now and hope to have this on the road by the time i pass my test! would be really grateful if anyone could send me a copy of the build manual as this would really come in handy! hope somebody can help me my email is deathshells@googlemail.com. Hello Simon look out for my registration fee soon!
Leigh: For those of you who are on facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/group.php?gid=134031486872&ref=ts
gordy: can any one tell me where i can find my chassis number on a magenta sprint
ken: Facebook ...search for kenwarb2k5@yahoo.co.uk
Leigh: Doh it's a shell and chassis kit not a complete car.
Leigh: Mini Sprint on ebay! item number 320440748636
Leigh: Ken Hydrolastic displacers are a must if they are intact! long short but rear subframe if it's not rotten(very long shot), the front brake calipers can be tricky to track down, master cylinders can generally be re-usable and are worth keeping, voltage regulators and control boxes are a good one to keep too, most of the other mechanical bits either don't wear out or are readily available. Keeping hold of the V5 and any ID plates from the car might also be a good idea! Where abouts are you as there are five ken warburton on facebook guessing either manchester or west mids?
Ken: Also ...The Magenta came with a donor car, which i will need to get rid of at some point, its a 1969 Morris 1100 reg: JST 813G, i would say its beyond repair for teh car it self, but what i'm asking, what bits should i strip off it as spares for myself? i have also joined the 1100 owners club as well, so they may be able to have use out of some of the bits,
Ken: As the now official owner of NOP 57F,( white one with the purple stripe down the bonnet)i say official as ive paid for it , it was my brother inlaws for the past 28 years, they have just let me use it for the last 3 or 4 years !! I'm hoping to get to as many shows as possible in 2010, thanks for the heads up Leigh on the dates, i can get these booked at work before anyone else gets the dates ;) if anyone wants to add me on facebook search for Ken Warburton and i know Simon has done a good job running this site for Magenta owners, is there a Facebook group as well?

Leigh: 2010 dates for shows Stoneleigh 2/3 May, Detling 4/5 April, Newark 19/20 June, Exeter 20/21 Nov, Anyone know of any others?
owelly: I have used MG Metro seats in my Sprint. I narrowed the bases and they fit fine.
Leigh: Oh my god someone has painted a magenta pink and it's now on ebay, looks quite tidy but not my cup of tea item number 250515713322, and another yellow one also on ebay item number 290362030291 looks like a wolsesey grill with some nice alloys on but needs some work.
Leigh: One of my cars is fitted with cobra clubmans http://www.cobraseats.com/clubman.htm the other with some corbeau, the corbeau ones i have aren't available anymore but I actually prefer them to the cobras, someone has kept the original 1100 seats before and modded them to fitted think the car was Nigels and he sold it at Newark to Karen.
alan: metro seats are too wide. best bet is to find some narrow fitting bucket seats. huntmaster seats fit pretty well. i may have a spare set soon when i get some new seats for mine. anybody interested?
Simon Caplan: I think the seat from a Metro should fit.
James: Front seats - any idea what aftermarket seats will fit in a Magenta 1100/1300 as I know the seat frames are quite narrow?
Leigh: ebay item 300350883118 and another one!!!!!
Leigh: yet another magenta on ebay, mini sprint anyone? item number 200381192300
castletownmotors.ie: Not a member on here but have come accross a MG Magenta Lightspeed through my business. A 1300 Model. Not been used in over a year and has a leak in hydrolastic at the rear but nothing major. Bodywork in excellent condition as also the rain gear is. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of the value??? This car is in the rep of ireland but still on uk plates with v5
Joe: The green magenta is on the pistonheads website at £400 (its in the morris section not the kit cars!)
Leigh: I'm sure I've seen the green one at a show too, the union flag on the bulkhead and the strips on the running board look bloody familar, anyone know who's car this is/was?
owelly: and one of those listings is for two cars! Buy one, get one free!!
Leigh: and another one 260463183660!
Leigh: Another Magenta on ebay 280385055948 back end of a sprint with front end of an 1100?????
owelly: Simon, MEV is now in my custody!!!!
Jane: Anyone looking for a new hood please check out the question and answers page.
Paul: 926VBB update. Finally off the axle stands after 4 months, New wheels arrived from Minilite last week. Interior just about complete, single Halda fitted on loan from a future navigator (twin Halda way to expensive these days). Engine parts due back next week so rebuild can begin. Should be back on the road late September and hopefully out testing on a couple of small rallies before a busy 2010 rally calendar including an event in Holland already pencilled in plus a couple of kit car shows. Unfortunately no Bulbar at the moment just run out of money and time. When photos arrive from previous owners an owners tree with pictures will be produced and all the documentation I have will be displayed (somehow). Paul
eddie: re hard top moulds e-mails sent

owelly: And there's the LSR i this months (and last months!) PPC Magazine!!
owelly: I have a soft top for the LSR which is in poor conditout OK to take a pattern from, and a hard top with doors. I intend to make the hard top a better fit and finish and make a set of moulds.
Simon: When you an LSR top, do you mean soft or hard top?
owelly: Sorry, no moulds for the hard top and I only have an LSR top to make a copy from!!

simon: Thats my old LSR up for sale on eBay. I want him back to go with my current LSR.
derek: 2 magentas for sale on ebay motors if anyones looking for projects.sprint&lsr
steve: hi can anybody email me the build manual for an lsr? if so my email is gallivans@yahoo.co.uk
Neill: Interesting point I have noticed that the new bushes that have only covered 1000 miles are already starting to wear out. Did the manufacturer change the mountings or is it a mod done by the builders.
owelly: Neill, It was your LSR I was looking at and your trailing arms are like they are in the build manual. But the build manal is wrong! The problem with unequal length or non-parrallel arms isn't noticable when looking at the axle location in regards to front dive/rear squat but it is when conering! When cornering, one side of the axle is trying to twist one way but the other side is trying to do the opposite. It helps anti-roll but can knock out bushes or twist things that don't want to be twisted! It's a nice car all the same!!
Neill Heppenstall: I've just looked at the build manual on here and my trailing arms are just as drawn, so perhaps you were looking at someone elses. I was there on sunday only. Neill
